I am nominating my mother for many reasons. In 2007, my mom faced much adversity with unbelievable physical/emotional/spiritual strength. To start, my mother has battled both Ovarian and Colon Cancer in the past 12 years. She has been in remission since 02/07. In between her own fight for survival, she aided my brother and family after their house burned on 02/06/07. After the fire, her house served as the headquarters fro donations from family/friends. She also cared for the kids and she and my father supported them financially. In 07/06 (right before her cancer came back) my 58 year old father's health declined. He had many health problems that included heart, liver, lung and kidney disease. In 08/06, my Dad began dialysis and required alot of care. Throughout 2007, my Dad was in/out of the hospital 8 times. In 08/07, my Dad required inpatient rehabilitative therapy. Unfortunately, he continued to deteriorate in mind, body and spirit. My Mom spent hours/days caring for my father there. On 10/05/07 my Dad lost his life. They were married 36 years. 2007 was filled with struggles that my mom battled w/dignity and strength. She should be woman of the year for her devotion to caring for her family and friends with a will and vengeance that cannot be duplicated. She is my hero and a role model to dozens. Please honor her with this award, as I do not know who could be more deserving of this.
